A Lingua trova a gente [the tongue finds people]

This work is the result of a nomadic journey into the Italian landscape. Speding several night days and nights in a cave on the coast of Puglia, Bertelé explores the connection between dwelling and communication. The artist poses transitory inhabitance as a semiotic question: the architectural space (signifier) is the container of the human body (signified). The morphology of the cave is therefore seen as the space that created the 'logos' and the act of penetrating the cave is a return to the creation of language. It is also a symbolic act of returning on the one hand, to the first human settlements of the region and on the other, of inhabiting radical contemporary units of refuge. The artist's temporary loculus, recreated and transposed into the gallery space, also represents the liminal face of the European political body; resiliency in extreme conditions became a localised act of resistance.

Quest'opera è il prodotto di un vagabondaggio nel paesaggio italiano. Dopo aver trascorso diversi giorni e notti in una caverna sulla costa pugliese, Bertelé esplora il rapporto fra dimora e comunicazione. L'artista propone la condizione dell'abitare provvisorio come questione semiotica: lo spazio architettonico (significante) é il contenitore del corpo umano (significato). La morfologia della caverna è quindi vista come spazio che ha creato il 'logos' e l'atto di penetrarla è un ritorno alla creazione del linguaggio. Ma è anche un atto simbolico: da un lato il ritorno ai primi insediamenti umani della regione, dall'altro un abitare radicale e contemporaneo in unità che offrono riparo e un'alcova. Il loculo temporaneo dell'artista ricreato e trasporto nello spazio della galleria, rappresenta anche il volto liminale del corpo politico europeo; la resilienza in condizioni estreme si fa atto localizzato di resistenza.
